Frequently Asked

DOES JOSH BACH MANUFACTURE EXTRA LONG TIES?
Our ties are hand finished to a length of 56" and a width of about 3 1/2". Currently we do not make extra long neckties.

DOES JOSH BACH MANUFACTURE CHILDREN'S NECKTIES?
Yes, we have boys neckties available in a limited number of designs. Additionally all our bowties can also fit older boys (12Y+). Both these can be found in our boys section.

DO JOSH BACH TIES COME IN DIFFERENT COLOR CHOICES?
Our CIVITAS neckties and a few of our Icon designs are available in different color choices, but for the most part we only offer one color pattern. Our ties designs are driven more by concept and less by the current fashion trends. When we design our patterns and color schemes, we keep in mind wearability, and often pick classic, traditional tones of blues and reds which are appropriate for any environment or special event.

DOES JOSH BACH DESIGN WOMEN'S PRODUCTS?
While we do design women's scarves, they are mostly done for our Custom projects. Our design expertise really lies within the men's arena.  However, that doesn't mean we don't have an eye for beautiful, wonderful and unique women's items. In fact we personally know many talented designers whom we've met through the years, that are as passionate about women's gifts as we are about men's. As such, we have carefully curated a collection of beautiful women's items that we feel are uncommonly wonderful, share our design aesthetics, and whose manufacturers believe in "Made in the USA" and fairness of trade.

HOW DO I TIE A BOW TIE?
Unless you’re English royalty or in a barbershop quartet, knotting a bow tie is probably not a skill you’re familiar with. But once you get over the intimidation factor—and learn the few easy steps in this video from Real Simple—you’ll master this old-school skill in a snap.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE JOSH BACH BRICK AND MORTAR SHOP AT THE SOUTH STREET SEAPORT?
Tragically our lovely store at the South Street Seaport was completely destroyed during Hurricane Sandy in 2012.  Eight feet of water entered our shop, destroyed all the inventory, computer systems files, fixtures electrical system etc.  Nothing was saved except the store sign.  The Hurricane also devastated the area, which is on one of the lowest elevations in Manhattan. Sadly, regardless of some efforts, the South Street Seaport has still not recovered or reopened (mainly bureaucratic and political reasons).  So, we soldier on and continue to look for appropriate retail space on higher ground.  When we find space we like, you will be the first to hear.  Until then you can find our items online.
